Ishi and his Yahi compatriots considered Mt. Lassen a holy place as did many other northeastern California tribes. It can easily be seen from many locations outside of the park, near or around Lake Almanor: Top Left, from the west shore of the lake; left, on CA HWY 89 near the west shore; top right, along Plumas County Road A13, near the north shore; above, from the lake's overflow area, on CA HWY 36, east of Chester, CA.
