Snow Barriers
When there is a heavy winter snowfall, negotiating trails can be difficult all summer. Right: the snow cornice at the top of Baxter Pass, John Muir Wilderness-Kings Canyon National Park. Bottom left: Glen Pass, Kings Canyon National Park, looking north. The two specks in the center are hikers moving down the pass. Bottom right: Hiker climbing through the snow on the south side of Glen Pass. Sometimes you can glissade down inclines similar to skiing. All photos are 35mm slides.
