The
falls come roaring out of the forest near the South Entrance Road
not far below Lewis Lake. Lewis River, top and right, starts in Shoshone
Lake, runs through Lewis Lake, over the falls, and on south to merge
with the Yellowstone River. The Yellowstone caldera's south rim crosses
the road near the falls. Lewis Falls wasn't formed by the rim like
Gibbon Falls.
