No
trail leads from the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse east to Ship Harbor.
Just follow the shoreline. Crashing waves, wildflowers, and tidepools
(bottom left) greet you at every turn. I followed the shoreline until
blocked by Ship Harbor. There, I turned north, following the west
shore of this inlet, knowing that Highway 102a to Seawall crossed
the head of the harbor. I was able to catch the Island Explorer bus
at that point to my campsite at Seawall Campground. Of course one
can hike the shoreline down a ways to some of these features and then
return to the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse; hike the road back to the
highway and catch the bus there. Any foray onto the granite shoreline
of Acadia Park will produce many good photo opportunities. |
