Visitor Center
A relief map table in the visitor center shows the geographic features of the park, top left and left. Flat map signs, above, hang outside near the entrance. Designated as a national park by President Richard Nixon on November 12, 1971, Arches covers 76,519 acres or 119 square miles. It's a small park compared to others. It's uniqueness is its 2,000+ arches, numerous towers, spires, and walls composed of Entrada and Navajo Sandstone.
