Southwest Rim Trail
I hiked to my assigned campsite at
sw4 (click on "map" link below
to see location at bottom of map on page 1) in time to get a few
late afternoon light photos. The log and cacti, top left, were
right beside the trail. The cacti, top, survive amid the tall
grass near the campsite. These trees, left, grow close to the Southwest
Rim. Since the Chisos Mountains are 4,ooo ft. and higher, grasses
and large trees can survive along with cacti and century plants.
Hikers must carry all water they need so it is difficult to stay
out there long or carry much photo equipment because of water
weight. All photos are from 35mm slides.
