This
common monkeyflower sprouted on the margin of historic Olsen Ranch
meadow behind my residence. I've documented other plants here over
the the last few years; this has been the only sighting of this particular
species. The stem, holding the flowers, extends about 3 feet from
its base. A close view highlights the details and beauty of a single
blossom. An adventurous ant explores the inner area of a flower, right.
