One
reason I like to camp at the Saint Mary Campground is the expansive
views. The other drive-in campgrounds in the park are in forest settings
- great mountain and lake views, but more enclosed. Saint Mary sits
where the prairie rolls up against the Rocky Mountains. There are
small aspen, and a few conifer trees - nothing significant enough
to block your view. Top left, the moon rises high above the southern
peaks. The sun sinks behind Singleshot Mountain, above. Both photos
were shot from my campsite. Different colored berries grew in the
bushes nearby. They didn't attract any bears. I try to snag the highest
campsite. It's at the far eastern end of the campground and has the
best open view in all directions. |
