The return CWS trek pointed southeast from Sonny Boy Prospect to Horton Creek. Afternoon and night rain cells provided drills for seeking temporary shelter, above, and hasty bivouacking, top right. Descending the mountain, late in the day, the team had to dive into one erected tent to escape an all night deluge. That night Sierra photographer Galen Rowell's plane crashed at Bishop CA.- caused by the severe weather. All aboard died.
