High Sierra
Center for Wilderness Studies Treks began in late June through late August when I was active. This schedule usually missed the heavy snow storms that only skiers could negotiate. Snow could add to high ridges from frequent summer thunder storms. Strong tropical storms, from the Mexican west coast, may pass through the Sierra adding to the snow pack already there. These tempests are infrequent.
