Continuing
south, on Pinto Basin Road, from the "Apostle of Cacti"
turnout, one enters into the Transition Zone between the Mojave and
Colorado Deserts. This extensive grove of "teddy bear" cholla
thrives here. Their fat fingers glow in early morning light, left
and above. When the sun creeps above the horizon, they take on a warm,
orange appearance. |
