Lost Palms Oasis Trail starts a few hundred feet beyond the mortar holes, past Cottonwood Spring. From this point it's 3.5+/- miles to Lost Oasis. It was mid-December, heavily overcast, but I started south on the trail. Hiking down bajadas, and over ridges, within a mile of my goal. Lowering clouds and rain drops led me to realize lack of light would not result in good photos. As I returned, cholla cactus, pencil cactus, and yucca coexist along the trail.
