One
of the major trails in the eastern section of Lassen Volcanic National
Park starts at Juniper Lake and goes north to Butte Lake. Another
angles northwest to the Pacific Crest Trail, and Lower Twin Lake.
A spur from the PCT leads to Cluster Lakes. Juniper Lake, top left,
is the largest lake in the park and sits at 6800' elevation. Horseshoe
Lake, above,with Mt Lassen rising over the lake. It's 1.4 miles from
Juniper to Horseshoe. One of the oldest, log cabin ranger stations
waves Old Glory at Horseshoe Lake. |
