Horseshoe Lake
Lassen National Park East
A calm summer morning turns the lake surface into a giant mirror. The early sunlight is just intense enough to replicate land forms on the water's surface. At the same time, light reflected from this water mirror probes into the vegetation along the lake's margin. Smaller flowers take refuge under corn lily leaves, above and top left. A lone pine tree waits for the sunlight to advance from the lake's west shore to the spot Mother Nature reserved for him on the east shore.
