The campground, located near the visitor center, has many trails
leading to the Skagit River. This is the River Loop Trail. The Cascades
rain forest reaches to the river's edge, left and top left. Indian
Pipe plants established themselves at trailside. I visited the park
during a triple digit heat wave in July, '06. These shady paths,
near the natural air conditioning of running water, kept me cool
enough to do some photography. The campground is located conveniently
close to the market in Newhalem and the North Cascades National
Park Visitor Center.
