The road to Sol Duc Trail starts at US HWY 101, 40 miles west of Port Angeles, Washington. Turn south at the Sol Duc Hot Springs sign; follow the road along the Sol Duc River. The falls was segmented in late July, throwing mist high into the air. My weather sealed Pentax K-5 SLR camera came in handy here. The 1.6 round trip, from the trailhead parking lot, winds through lowland forest. Few hikers were on the trail this early. I stopped for a great breakfast at the lodge.
