Poppies grow in many parts of the world. There is no more prolific growth than in California. The Antelope Valley, north of Los Angeles, is blessed with golden-orange carpets in the spring if moisture and temperature have been kind. A state poppy park and festival celebrate the poppy's return. The flowers at right were more yellow-gold than most. This image and the top left one are 6x7cm slides. The other is a 35mm slide. All three were shot in the Antelope Valley and Leona Valley area, not in the park. In a good year you can find them and lupine across the entire valley and surrounding area.
