On
the Grand Loop Road south from Mammoth Hot Springs there's plenty
of evidence that underground volcanic activity has left its mark on
the surface. The multicolored hills and stark landscape remind one
of another world. One can go through multiple rolls of film in such
a location. Left, Dead and surviving trees stand by the Upper Terrace
Loop Road. Some limber pines are 500+ years old. Top photos show Roaring
Mountain, on the Grand Loop Road, north of Norris Geyser Basin. The
mountain no longer roars - it just steams and rumbles. All photos
are scanned 35mm slides. |
