I
couldn't pass up every opportunity to record the harbor scene; especially
the elegant "Margaret Todd." This 151ft schooner makes three
2 hour cruises daily. I was so busy hiking and photographing the coast
and mountains that I didn't get to cruise - proof that it takes more
than a week to experience Acadia and its amenities. Daily ferry service
also takes you to other islands and the Schoodic Peninsula section
of Acadia National Park. You could also take a ferry trip out of the
country from here via the Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada route. It's
difficult to get a close shot of the "Margaret Todd" at
full sail from the pier because the sails go up and are pulled down
outside of the inner harbor. Top left, view of "MT" from
the Bar Harbor Shore Path. Bar Island is in the background. The east
and west ends of Sheep Porcupine Island are in the background of the
2 photos, above. |
