Rock Creek - Mono County
The brilliant red blossoms, above, could be one of two species. They are either Bridge's pentstemon, or scarlet gilia. The backward curving petals may favor the latter. A young blue gilia graces the top right column. See the first Rock Creek page for a mature version. The lilly, right, can be one of two types: Sierra lilly or leopard lilly. I've seen many in the Sierra, and elsewhere, over the years and called them leopard lillies. Elizabeth Horn, in her Sierra Nevada Wildflowers guide, explains the difference as flower size. I didn't measure this one.
