The
brilliant red blossoms, above, could be one of two species. They are
either Bridge's pentstemon, or scarlet gilia. The backward curving
petals may favor the latter. A young blue gilia graces the top right
column. See the first Rock Creek page for a mature version. The lilly,
right, can be one of two types: Sierra lilly or leopard lilly. I've
seen many in the Sierra, and elsewhere, over the years and called
them leopard lillies. Elizabeth Horn, in her Sierra Nevada Wildflowers
guide, explains the difference as flower size. I didn't measure this
