Chester California Wildflowers
Columbine and peas mass their troops for battle. The small yellow dandelion relative maneuver into place, flanking a single pea unit, left. Another yellow squad gathers near the impending struggle, above. Each of these species thrive throughout most of northern California, from the coast to the high foothills of the Sierra Nevada. With that much habitat available, they shouldn't have to battle over the diminutive territory beside my porch. The "Pea Patch Saga" continues.
