| As the trail ascends, the views grow more expansive. When it turns south from the lake views, hikers see forests and far off mountains. Mount McLoughlin (9495ft) rises through the haze far to the south, above. Returning to a northern scene, the Watchman and Hillman Peak stand at the northwest rim of the lake, top left. Vivid splashes of color pop up along the way. |
