Wallace
Pratt resided in Houston while employed as a geologist for the Humble
Oil Company. He enjoyed hiking around McKitrick Canyon. He purchased
several thousand acres of the canyon, and built this cabin out of
local stone in 1932. In 1945 the Pratts started a comfortable retirement
here. Unfortunately, seasonal flooding quickly forced them to build
another home on higher ground. Top right, their hats hang on a rack
near a favorite lamp. Wallace's pressed suit hangs behind the bedroom
door, right. |
