Low
water reveals the limestone(?) layers sculpted by the constantly surging
water and debris. You can sit on a rock slab, above the falls, and
enjoy the sights and sounds. You also can work your way down the rock
wall for a closer look. The image, above, was taken near the bottom
of the wall. Fleabane(?), center, seek late sunlight. |

I
shot this image from near the top of the wall. It's the best angle
to capture the entire flow. Just before reaching the falls, there's
a little side trail, to the left, which leads to the base of the falls.
You can take a dip in the pool at the base, left. Virginia Creek merges
with the Saint Mary River and, together, find the west end of Saint
Mary Lake. |
