Sun Road East
Virginia Falls
Low water reveals the limestone(?) layers sculpted by the constantly surging water and debris. You can sit on a rock slab, above the falls, and enjoy the sights and sounds. You also can work your way down the rock wall for a closer look. The image, above, was taken near the bottom of the wall. Fleabane(?), center, seek late sunlight.
I shot this image from near the top of the wall. It's the best angle to capture the entire flow. Just before reaching the falls, there's a little side trail, to the left, which leads to the base of the falls. You can take a dip in the pool at the base, left. Virginia Creek merges with the Saint Mary River and, together, find the west end of Saint Mary Lake.
