As
you wander the paths around the Logan Pass Visitor Center, taking
in this amazing view, interpretive signs give a mini-lesson in geology.
This sign takes the information out of the textbook and lays it on
the land. You see what it's describing right in front of you. The
sign stands just outside the back entrance to the visitor center.
Mt. Reynolds, an example of a glacial horn, conveniently stands within
easy view from the center. The sign lines up perfectly with the actual
geological specimen - Mt. Reynolds, top right. An open view of Mt.
Reynolds, above, is obscured by smoke from a forest fire in the Avalanche
Basin, just west of Logan Pass. The sign points out that Clements
Mountain
(see previous page) is not a glacial horn.
