Plant life congregates near, and in, creeks and small ponds in the Sierra, mostly below timberline (10,000ft). Moisture and minerals provide nutriment for abundant growth. Reedgrass seems to prefer the calm waters of small ponds, top left and bottom right. The yellow flowers and spreading moss cling to brush and rocks along the edges of streams.
