High Sierra
This creek may appear shallow; however, carrying a 50 pound pack, combined with a rocky stream bed can put you face down in a depth of water difficult to recover from before drowning. Pack belts are unfastened, to ditch the pack if necessary - you are still carrying that pack as you try to cross. It holds everything you need to finish this trek.
Trekking the Trails
River and creek crossings provide CWS participants with plenty of practice after winter and spring wet weather has set down plenty of snow and rain moisture to to keep these waterways flowing well into the fall. Roping skills must be practiced.
