Trekking the Trails
When events require bivouacking early, the CWS crew practices some wilderness skills. They utilize a nearby brook- sized creek to construct a dead willow bridge to test a crossing with minimum risk. A larger, stronger one would be needed for people with packs. Numerous streams like this one tumble down the east side Sierra foothills. Traversing these foothills, to get to a pass from the trailhead, or one exterior pass to another, would be easier with this temporary bridge building skill.
