Longer breaks from the trail during the day's trek are rare, but rewarding, especially when one is available at a spectacular Sierra scene. Wilderness skills training is the main focus of the regimen; however, time to contemplate the surroundings, and maybe meditate a moment, fits right in with Center for Wilderness Studies philosophy. If the trail gets rough and rocky, and you wonder "why in hell am I doing this?" a quiet time to enjoy such a place is the answer.
