Smoke rises from a fire on the northwest shore of Snag Lake. My son
and I were camped there when the fire started from a lightening strike.
We gave firefighters our food and hiked south ahead of the creeping
blaze. Years later I documented the damage and re-growth, left. We
were camped near the beach in the background. The top left photo shows
a bare area, at the left, where the fire burned. Cinder Cone rises
as a rounded hump to the right of the bare area. Several fires have
spread through this area over the years. |
