North Cascades National Park
Sahale Arm Trail
When I first arrived at the glacer, one of the first creatures I saw was this mountain goat. Other campers said he came down to visit every afternoon. Actually he was searching for small green growth around the rocks. He sauntered down from above the glacer and circled the area. I photographed him in different locations, but my favorite is the top left, where he posed against the dramatic background to the south. He was easily approachable - hence the close shot, above. No other goats appeared during my overnight stay. I like to think of him as the hermit goat of Sahale Mountain.
