Looking
south from my camp, other tents are perched on top of moraines within
the glacier. The small yellow spots, top left, and left, are tents.
The light spot on the mound, above, is another tent. The mountains
in the background may be a group called The Triplets. Cascade Pass
Trail runs left to right at the base of these peaks. The peak far
left in the left photo may be Mix-Up Peak. On the map it sits just
east of The Triplets. The white spot , in the background, to the right
of Mix-Up, is Mt Rainier way down south. The view south from Sahale
Glacier is one of the most spectacular scenes I have experienced in
any national park. One can see why North Cascades has more glaciers
than any national park including Glacier National Park. |
