Moraine Park

The mountains west of Moraine Park are sitting under a nearly cloudless sky in the morning, above. By early afternoon squall lines descend from the peaks, top right. Almost a daily occurrence in summertime, you must plan your hiking and photography accordingly. I waited out this shower in the Moraine Park Museum. The low, green ridges in the foreground are lateral moraines left by receding glaciers eons ago. The two photos, right, are from the museum's parking lot. Later, I photographed elk not far from the museum (see next page). Images are scanned 35mm slides.
