Moraine Park Elk
This head of elk came down to the creek after
thunder showers passed by and the temperature started to rise. The
bull, leader of the herd, cools himself, top left. The rest browse
in the meadow behind, above. The group doesn't stray too far from
its leader, left. The elk I encounter while hiking usually move
too fast to photograph. These were comfortable with people since
there was a crowd nearby on the other side of the creek from them.
The herd moved between two roads, parallel to them - note the car
in the background, left. Photos are scanned 35mm slides.
