My
tent site, perched on a hillside, provided a great view west, including
one of the Golden Lakes, nestled like a jewel on a pillow, top left.
Mt Rainier's west face displays many of its 25 glaciers, surrounding
the peak in splay fashion, left. Most likely this view, from Golden
Lakes, includes North Mowich , Edmunds, and South Mowich Glaciers.
The Tallest peak may be Liberty Cap (14112ft). From our 5000ft loft,
at Golden Lakes, fellow hikers and I watched the sun set on the Pacific
horizon, and lights turn on at our feet in Tacoma. Late afternoon
shadows creep over one of the lakes, above. |
