One would think this area should be in Geyser Country; but, the
lake in the background is Yellowstone, the centerpiece of Lake Country.
All sections of the park have volcanic activity. The Yellowstone
caldera boundry covers parts of Geyser and Lake Country. West Thumb
jabs into the west side of the lake. I photographed the area late
in the day with the sun at a low angle. Earlier in the day, sunlight
glare on the hydrothermal features would have obscurred details.
