Lake Country - West Thumb
A shallow thermal area under Yellowstone Lake created this small geyser basin. It's really a smaller caldera within the larger Yellowstone caldera. The lake level is just high enough to keep the area from have a large steam explosion. Small geysers, springs, and mud pots populate the area. You can let your creative juices flow and create countless abstracts here. I don't know if this small elk was showing off for the crowd or just sniffing the air. Photos are scanned 35mm slides.
