Jordan Pond
Located along the west section of the Loop Road, Jordan Pond sees a great deal of human activity. A carriage road passes through the area and up the west border of the lake. Two road images on the previous page are from this area. Jordan Pond House has sat at the lake's sourthern end for over a century, serving its traditional tea, lunch, and dinner to appreciative guests. Throngs of people stroll the grounds. Some break off and hike the trail around Jordan Pond, above. North and South Bubbles, 872 and 766 feet respectively, rise in the background. More adventurous hikers might climb the trail to the Bubbles. On the trail, not far above Jordan Pond, near a balancing rock, you get a good view of Eagle Lake to the north. The Bubbles trail continues on to the lake. Carriage roads circle it. Auto access is by Highway 233 which crosses Eagle Lake's northern end. The Island Explorer bus also stops there. No need to drive.
