Going-to-the-Sun Road
								This somewhat alarming emergency notice was posted at the trailhead when I arrived. The fire started on September 1, 2012. I was reading it on September 22nd. The trail to the lake was open, but I knew smoke would not make for a good photo day. I wanted to do the trail, so I rationalized: We always see the spectacular images of this area; shouldn't we witness it imperiled by smoke and ash? The trail gradually climbs to the lake, making it reasonable for most hikers.
