When it's time to halt for the day, you may luck out and settle down in a post card vista. Maybe it will include a lake, half frozen, or lack any notable vegetation; but plenty of Sierra granite. The scenery might raise your spirits after a long trek through rough country. Your bivouac may not have an inspiring view at the end of the day, top left, but that line of low trees will block wind whipping down the canyon.
