The
Juniper/Butte Lake trail approaches Cinder Cone from the south, top
left. The trail into the caldera, right, is the thin, light line in
the top third of the photo. Hiking into the depth of this caldera
is a special experience in Lassen Volcanic National Park. The other
images show Cinder Cone and the Fantastic Lava Beds from the east
shore of Butte Lake. Lassen Peak looks over the shoulder of Cinder
Cone, top right. Cinder Cone built itself in the mid 1600's. |
