Day
six of my trek around Mt Rainier on the Wonderland Trail - The sun
sparkled off a glacier to the east, as I ambled through St Andrews
Park, top left. To the west appeared a jarring sight. Clearcuts and
logging road gashes covered the mountain side, left, and top right.
I'm from a logging area and support the industry. However; this site
is in Mt Baker Snoqualmie National Forest, next to the national park.
One would think someone would be concerned about the view by visitors
to the park. Visitors expect to view natural landscapes, in the park,
and surrounding areas, especially national forests. The trail eventually
skirted the toe of Tahoma Glacier, along Emerald Ridge, to Indian
Henrys Hunting Grounds - a more pleasant environment. I spent the
next day exploring the hunting grounds before moving on to Pyramid
Creek Camp. |
